on a mission
Good food should taste good and be good. When quality ingredients are sourced with care, food can taste its best.
More and more, people are increasingly attuned to what’s in their food and where it originates. Buying food with sustainably sourced ingredients can make the meal taste good and can make you feel good about what you’re putting in your body.
Hellmann’s recipe of real, simple ingredients – eggs, oil and vinegar – has been a staple of quality in making food taste its best for 100 years. Hellmann’s knows how important it is to have the best possible ingredients to arrive at the best possible product. And so Hellmann’s is committed to transitioning its entire product line to 100 percent cage-free eggs by 2020.
Currently, Hellmann’s sources as many cage-free eggs as possible. And in 2010, when it first began sourcing cage-free eggs for Hellmann’s Light, the product became the first consumer good of its stature and volume in the packaged foods industry to use 100 percent cage-free eggs — which equates to approximately 3.5 million pounds of eggs.
While Hellmann’s Light uses 100% cage-free eggs and has since 2010, we still have more progress to make on our other products. In 2012, Hellmann’s introduced certified cage-free eggs in Hellmann’s® Real, the largest piece of the product portfolio. Today, about 40 percent of our eggs are cage-free eggs and climbing.
Next time you’re grocery shopping, look for the ‘American Humane Certified’ seal on your eggs to know if they’re certified cage-free. Cage-free eggs are a simple way to bring good food to the table for you and your family. Soon, we’ll be bringing them to you in all our Hellmann’s products.
